A guy in Iowa had his roommate cash his winning lottery ticket worth $30,000, so a portion of it wouldn’t get seized to pay off his debts.  But then she didn’t give him his full share . . . cops heard them arguing about it . . . and now they’re both facing felony charges for lottery fraud.

Here’s why it’s so important to get along with your roommates.

Last year, a 63-year-old woman in Evansdale, Iowa came forward with a lottery ticket worth $30,000.  Her name is Sandy Crow, and there’s a photo of her getting her giant novelty check.  (Here’s the picture.)

But cops recently got a call about a disturbance at her home, and things went sideways.  When they got there, she was arguing with her roommate, 45-year-old Alvin Larsen.

He was in the middle of moving out, and police overheard them arguing about the winning ticket.  It turned out Alvin was actually the one who bought it.  And he had Sandy cash it in to avoid having a portion of the money seized.

He’s in debt, including $919 in unpaid fines he owes the city.  So he convinced Sandy to say the ticket was hers, and promised her a share of the winnings.

It’s not clear how much she was supposed to get.  But she apparently realized she had all the leverage, and didn’t give Alvin HIS full share.  Like idiots, they revealed the whole scam to the cops.

Alvin told them the ticket was really his . . . accused Sandy of “fraud” . . . and he was right.  But he failed to realize that he ALSO committed fraud.  Specifically, lottery fraud.

Both of them are now facing felony charges.
