LAS VEGAS, NV – Today (11/13/2023), Governor Joe Lombardo announced Kris Sanchez as the incoming Director of the Department of Business and Industry. Sanchez was appointed after current Director Terry Reynolds announced his retirement this month.

“I’m pleased to announce Kris Sanchez as the new Director of Business and Industry,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “Kris has done outstanding work at GOED, helping elevate Nevada’s international profile and developing innovative and long-lasting economic development partnerships. I know that Business and Industry will greatly benefit from Kris’ natural leadership and strategic thinking, just as GOED has.”

Sanchez most recently served as the Deputy Director for the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED). Having been with GOED for over a decade, Kris is an expert on infrastructure development and a respected source on economic development throughout Nevada. Sanchez received his doctorate in public policy from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. 

“As I conclude my tenure at the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, I’m excited to serve as the new Director of Business and Industry,” said Director Kris Sanchez. “I’m eager to get to work executing Governor Lombardo’s pro-business agenda and delivering results for Nevada businesses.”

The Department of Business and Industry is a cabinet level agency designed to promote the development and growth of business and to ensure the legal operation of business in a fair and competitive regulatory environment.

The Department encompasses the Director’s Office and 11 state agencies, in addition to overseeing 25 commissions, advisory boards, and committees. The Director’s Office manages programs and initiatives to address the needs of small businesses and consumers, including small business advocacy, bond programs, access to capital, constituent services, and fraud prevention and education.

Sanchez begins the role today on November 13, 2023.
