Here are some random facts for you:  Americans spend almost $100 billion a year on the lottery.  And only four states still allow prisoners to have conjugal visits.

1.  Until the wire whisk was popularized in the 19th century, vigorous mixing was usually accomplished using birch branches, knives, or bundles of straw.

2.  Americans spend almost $100 billion a year on the lottery . . . which is more than we spend on books, movies, music, video games, and tickets to sporting events combined.

3.  Only four states still allow prisoners to have conjugal visits . . . California, New York, Connecticut, and Washington.  And California and New York are the only ones who allow same-sex conjugal visits.

4.  There are only two countries in the world that don’t require companies to give their employees paid maternity leave:  Papua New Guinea and the U.S. 

The South American country Suriname had been on this list until a couple years ago, but then they introduced 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and eight days of paid paternity leave.

5.  Peanut M&M’s were invented by a guy named Forrest Mars, who was allergic to peanuts.
