78 years ago – In 1945, George Bush (the First)and the saucy Barbara Pierce were married in Rye, New York.

59 years ago – In 1964, The Rolling Stones headed out on their first tour as headliners.  The first show was in London . . . where they played with The Ronettes and Mary Wilde.

54 years ago – In 1969, Georgia Governor Jimmy Carter and members of the Lions Club in Leary, Georgia, saw what they thought was a UFO.   Jimmy Carter said he would never again make fun of people who claim they’ve seen an alien spaceship.  Jimmy Carter lusts in his heart, ya know.

50 years ago – In 1973, “Schoolhouse Rock” premiered on ABC with Multiplication Rock.  The first song was Three Is a Magic Number.

48 years ago – In 1975, Ted Turner bought the Atlanta Braves for $11 million.

48 years ago – In 1975, the first episode of “Wheel of Fortune” aired on NBC.  It started as a daytime gameshow that was hosted by Chuck Woolery until 1981.

29 years ago – In 1994, Tonya Harding’s chubbyassault team caught up with Nancy Kerrigan after practice in Detroit and beat her about the right leg with an iron bar.

22 years ago – In 2001, George W. Bush was certified by Congress as the winner of the 2000 election, five weeks after that “hanging chad” controversy with the Florida ballots.

18 years ago – In 2005, Aaron Carter’s Cadillac Escalade EXPLODED after a mattress fell off a truck in front of him, and he didn’t have time to avoid it.  

Aaron simply drove over the mattress, which got caught under the SUV and caught on fire . . . causing the SUV to ignite . . . then EXPLODE.  Thankfully, he got out in time and was unharmed.

10 years ago – In 2013, the NHL reached a deal to end its 113-day Lockout . . . which meant most of us could go back to not caring about hockey.

Six years ago – In 2017, the Hispanic “One Day at a Time” remake premiered.  It ran for three seasons on Netflix and got a fourth season on Pop TV.

Four years ago – In 2019, “Bohemian Rhapsody” won the Golden Globe for Best Drama and Rami Malek took home a Best Actor award.

Two years ago – In 2021, Donald Trump incited a mob to march on the Capitol while Congress was certifying the election results.  Rioters stormed and vandalized the building, threatened elected officials, and clashed with police.  Four people died, but Congress was back in session by night to finish Joe Biden’s certification.
